IMPORTANT INFORMATION – ISSUANCE OF A REGISTRATION NUMBER
Regarding the announcements concerning Regulation (EU) 2024/1028 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 April 2024 on the collection and sharing of data relating to short-term accommodation rental services and amending Regulation (EU) 2018/1724 (hereinafter: Regulation (EU) 2024/1028), which concerns the obligation to obtain a registration number for those renting out rooms, apartments (studio apartments), and holiday homes, we would like to inform you that this obligation in Croatia will enter into force at the beginning of 2027. The exact date will be announced by the Ministry after the adoption of the new Hospitality Industry Act.
Important!
At this time, there is NO obligation to obtain a Registration Number for the purpose of advertising on online platforms.
Those required to obtain a registration number will be: owners (legal entities and private individuals) of rooms, apartments (studio apartments), and holiday homes who advertise their properties on short-term accommodation rental platforms (an online platform for short-term accommodation rentals that enables guests to enter into distance contracts with landlords/service providers for the provision of short-term accommodation services).
Those subject to this obligation will be required to obtain and display the registration number on platforms in the following year, 2027.
Obtaining the registration number will be completely free of charge, digitalized, and simple for everyone, and the registration number will be issued upon request by the Ministry of Tourism and Sport.
The introduction of registration numbers aims to prevent advertising by those who rent out properties without obtaining the required approval (registration), and it is intended to reduce the occurrence of unfair competition against landlords/service providers who operate legally.
